But hairstyles would definitely be among them. Not only do they all sorta look like clay (I get it, that’s the style. Point still stands) but they’re also simply lacking in stylistic choices. Hair clips are the easy answer to styling problems, both in the digital world and in the real world. So why hasn’t The Sims 4 capitalized on this more? I may not have the answer to that. But I know I’m not alone in wanting some more hair clip options. And thankfully there are so many quality CCs to pick from!
1. Maya Hair + Hair Clips
Check Out This CC The greatest thing about modern barrette styles is that designs which would have been considered “childish” in the past, aren’t reduced to that label anymore. Take these Maya hair clips, for example. The simplistic flowers and butterflies are exactly the kind of thing you could buy in a children’s pack of barrettes. But that doesn’t mean only kids can wear them. And the hairstyle that comes as part of this CC is the perfect complement to them. Mature, clean, and begging to be filled with all sorts of colorful barrettes.
2. S-Club LL Hair Accessories
Check Out This CC These star shaped hair clips aren’t quite as dazzling as real stars (thankfully), but they have enough sparkle to be justifiable fake stars! Star clips are one of those things that are always usable, regardless of the outfit or hairstyle they’re attached to. And even though they haven’t always enjoyed the same level of popularity that they have now, they’re not a fad – they’re timeless! You get two different styles of clip in this CC (3 stars and 2 stars), and the same number of colors (red and blue). But you don’t really need to match their colors to your outfit.
3. Toulouse Hair Clips
Check Out This CC There’s something to be said for subtler accessories. That something is, “way more convenient but equally as stylish.” I mean, seriously. You can’t look at these Toulouse hair clips and think that the model isn’t wearing them in a way that’s both fashionable and upscale. But they’re also totally normal hair clips that you could easily toss on your sim on their way to that cafe they frequent… or their workplace, or even their school! And with 25 swatches in total, these rectangle barrettes are easy to match – and aren’t going to get old any time soon.
4. Pola Hair w Hair Clips
Check Out This CC This CC is seriously zany. That means while most people won’t dig it, one or two will be madly in love with it. It’s an impressive combination of thin braids and space buns. And the hair clips are, for the most part, not actually necessary to achieve the look. But they certainly elevate it! If you’re not sold on the whole braids-in-face thing, version 2 is just as wonderful but without the quirkiness of version 1. Both versions have 15 hair clip swatches and a jaw-dropping 50 hair swatches. Hairstyling aside, that’s undoubtedly impressive!
5. Kayla Clips
Check Out This CC When you think of basic barrettes, what do you think of? For me, this Kayla clip CC is the image that comes to mind. You can buy them at Target, Walmart, the dollar store, Marshalls… or you could buy them in The Sims 4 and only spend Simoleons! As versatile and functional as they are in real life, they’re even better in game, because they’ll never ever get tangled in your hair. This CC has a couple hair options that were made to go along with it, but you don’t have to use them. You also don’t have to use light blue – because you have 20 colorful swatches to pick from.
6. Elegant Side Barrette Hair
Check Out This CC I’ll admit it: not every hairstyle has to have the hair clips front and center. I acknowledge your existence, hair clip puritans. This CC is exactly what it says on the tin – an elegant hairstyle with a simple side barrette. And this time, the clip only serves to prop up the hair and hold it in place. Out of all of the hairstyles on this list, this one is the most likely to show up in a conventional, professional environment. Paired with a cocktail dress or other black tie sensibilities, this style is a killer. And don’t confuse its simplicity for being plain. The clip comes in black or gold, and there are 18 different hair colors (including unnatural ones).
7. Yume Hair Clips
Check Out This CC Why yes, those are little skeleton hands in my hair. Where did I get them from? Well, maybe it’s best if you don’t know the answer to that. Whether you use these hair clips as a finishing touch to your Simbroleen outfit or as a wacky everyday accessory, they’ll never disappoint when it comes to making a statement. This CC includes 7 swatches, most of which are pastels. And if you’re really looking to mimic human bones, then the ‘classic’ white is always an option.
8. Kyra Hair Accessories
Check Out This CC Some hair clips are mostly functional, and some hair clips are mostly for show. These glamorous Kyra hair accessories fall smack dab in between those two extremes. Big barrettes (and I mean biiig) with beads, fake pearls, or rhinestones are a trend that doesn’t seem to be going away. As someone with thick hair, I’m thankful for that! But no matter what your sim’s hair is like, this hair clip set is sure to complete their modern look. And if you’re not quite as into the chunky barrette trend, it also comes with a glitzy star. Ariana Grande who?
9. Glitter Hair Clips
Check Out This CC Glitter has been a common theme throughout this list, but this CC tops all the rest. Admittedly, glitter doesn’t make everything better (have you tried cleaning something that’s been glitter-ified?) But it certainly improves a lot of things. These glitter hair clips are one of those things! They’re perfect for children, and they come with 15 swatches so you can use your little darling’s favorite color.
10. Yosano’s Butterfly Hair Clip
Check Out This CC If you ever grow tired of making alternative versions of yourself in The Sims, then a fun option is recreating characters from your favorite shows and series. Akiko Yosano (from the anime Bungou Stray Dogs, not the classic Japanese author) is a prime target. Her iconic butterfly hair clip is the most identifiable part of her design, and also the most difficult to mimic with random CC. But this clip isn’t random – it’s the real thing! The only difference is it comes in 10 colors, so you’re not limited to the canonical gold.
